Crispy Cheeseburger Egg Rolls

Golden and crispy cheeseburger egg rolls have a fantastic delicate pork and cheese filling that’s all wrapped up into an egg roll before being deep-fry. It takes just a few minutes to cook these egg rolls. Serve with the most excellent combination of mayonnaise, chili sauce, and lemon juice for a truly wonderful taste. It’s an excellent appetizer or a side salad for tea time.

The most common technique is to deep-fry them. If you want more healthful and easier,  I prefer to bake them in an air fryer or oven. However, when faced with food, I have no control over my health. I opt for deep frying because it is not only more delicious but also gives me a taste of my childhood.

When I ate it for the first time as a kid, I loved the flavor of it. However, the majority of them are purchased on the outside with little stuffing and thick skin. So I try to do it on my own the first time, of course, there will be a lot of stuffing. I’m glad that everyone enjoys the thin crust and delicious filling. It’s always gone in a flash once it’s finished.

Fortunately, the cheeseburger egg rolls may be baked and refrigerated to be ready whenever you desire. It’s convenient as well as tasty. The spices surround the pork, add the bits of baked potato and toss with the cheese, and mix well. If you don’t want to fry your food, but would rather bake or air fryer it, then this recipe is for you! Before baking, apply each roll with olive oil. This is how you get the egg rolls crispy all around. Once the egg rolls are oiled, bake them in the oven for around 20 minutes, or 10 minutes in the air fryer, then you can ready to eat crispy oil-free egg rolls.

Can I use other meat instead?

Of course can. The most commonly used filling is pork because pork itself is delicious. But you can also change the pork to vegetarian, or replace it with a different protein instead, such as:

  • Minced chicken
  • Minced beef
  • Minced prawns

Egg rolls are usually served as an appetizer with a sauce. How to make a delicious sauce that matches the crispy cheeseburger egg rolls:

It’s really easy to make a sauce. As long as all the ingredients are stirred together.

  • Mayonnaise – 1 tablespoon
  • Chili sauce – 1 tablespoon
  • Dijon mustard – ½ tablespoon
  • Coconut sugar – 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon

Tips for Refrigeration

  • If you don’t want to cook all the egg rolls at once, just let the egg rolls cool to room temperature, put them in a large freezer-safe zip bag, and pop them in the freezer for up to 3 months. Be sure to squeeze out as much air as possible when sealing the bag.
  • To Freeze fried egg rolls: I find it easier to fry them all at once than to put them in the freezer. When ready to enjoy, I toast them in the air fryer until they are hot and crispy. Microwaving works but the shell won’t be crispy. You can also re-crisp in the oven.
  • Freezing Uncooked egg rolls: to keep them from sticking together, place them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze. Once frozen, transfer to a freezer-safe bag. You can fry frozen uncooked egg rolls without thawing, just add an extra 1 to 2 minutes to the frying time.

Homemade egg rolls are really crispy and superior to takeout. We love making a large batch of pork egg rolls, which is ideal for meal planning. They maintain their flavor and texture after being frozen and reheated.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of Egg Rolls Skin

  • 350g Ground Pork

  • 1 peeled Potatoes, diced

  • 3 slices of Cheese

  • ½ Yellow Onion, diced

  • 4 cloves of Garlic, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon of Butter

  • 1 Egg

  • Seasonings:
  • ½ teaspoon Mexico Paprika

  • ⅓ teaspoon Dried Chili Powder

  • ½ teaspoon of Sugar

  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper

  • 1 teaspoon Chicken Powder

  • 1 tablespoon Oyster Sauce

Directions

  • Filling recipe:
  • Add all the seasonings to the minced pork and stir well. Leave to marinate for 15-30 minutes. (Most people ignore this step and simply fry pork until it’s cooked and then add seasoning. This is all personal preference, don’t get too entangled, I like to marinate everything first, so that can make the pork more flavor).
  • Peel potatoes and cut them into small pieces. Pour a little vegetable oil into the wok, fry until golden brown, and take out and set aside.
  • Add a tablespoon of butter to the wok, add the chopped garlic and yellow onion, and fry until fragrant. Add the marinated pork and stir fry. Then add the cooked potatoes diced and cheese, and stir well. Stir until thick (if it is not sticky enough, add more cheese). Take it out and place it in a bowl.
  • The method of wrapping meat rolls:
  • The egg roll skin taken out from the refrigerator is a little hard, so put aside and cover it with a cloth to defrost it. When they are softer, they can be opened one by one, and then you can start wrapping.
  • Take out a piece of egg roll skin, put the minced meat in the middle, and one corner of the egg roll skin wraps the meat. Pull in the left and right sides. Wrap tightly and roll up, leaving a corner at the end. Wipe the egg mixture into the tail corner of the egg roll and wrap it up.
  • Put oil in the wok, wait for the oil to heat up, and put in the egg rolls, fry until golden brown and crispy. Then, remove to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Notes

  • Allow your egg roll wrappers to thaw to room temperature 45 minutes before using.
  • The oil must be hot enough before adding the spring rolls, or else they will not come out crispy.
